Craigrannoch House and Cottage – Family History

Craigrannoch is a granite family house with a cosy cottage in the grounds, situated in the picturesque village of Rockcliffe, overlooking the beautiful Solway and Rough Firth.

I have been there on holiday for almost 30 years: it is still as magical as when my parents first returned to the village where my dad was born and they spent their honeymoon at the Barons Craig Hotel.

I used to love playing on the little beach down our secret path, trying to dam the stream; biking and walking through the forest behind the house, fishing and buying sweets at the post office in nearby Kippford.  My sisters enjoyed galloping along the panoramic beach at Sandy Hills and through the forest on hired ponies, and my dad enjoyed the challenging links golf course at Colvend, where I finally learnt to hit the ball further than him!  My mum loved walking the wild cliff path to Rascarrel Bay and we all relished the cream tea at the Balcary Bay Hotel.

The good news is that Rockcliffe remains the idyllic place it was all those years ago, and now has better local facilities than before.

This site is to show you what a great place it is so that you can enjoy it too!

I hope you enjoy it and consider staying at Craigrannoch House and Cottage.
